Sadō, the Japanese Tea Ceremony, is a lifelong discipline that takes years of study and devotion. Shoshin Tea Practice is not a formal tea ceremony, but a structured program designed to guide you into the spirit and practice of making tea in the Japanese way.

Over the course of 15–20 lessons (60 minutes each), you will gradually learn the essentials of tea practice — from understanding the tools and etiquette to preparing a bowl of matcha with mindfulness and care.

What You Will Learn

The history, philosophy, and background of the tea ceremony

  1. The names and uses of tea utensils (chadōgu)

  2. Fundamental etiquette and movements

  3. Step-by-step practice to prepare and serve a bowl of matcha

  4. Mindfulness, respect, and the aesthetic principles that shape the way of tea

Course Format

Duration: 60 minutes per lesson
Fee: £50 per lesson
Total Lessons: 15–20 (weekly or flexible schedule)

Final Face-to-Face Test Includes:

Certification

  • Diploma from Sahana London – £200

  • Diploma from the Japan Culture Association – JPY55,000 (optional, for those wishing formal recognition)
